not going to deceive you, the world is wonderful. It has beautiful corners and lovely people but not all rainbows. There are places where children are behind you for hundreds of meters to get an empty bottle of water. There are places where people are gathered in the street with nothing to do but wait for a job that will never come. There are places where the fuck is up in the corners without anyone moving a finger to clean. During our trip around the world have gone to places we never dreamed of, but we also had to flee from others where ever we wanted to go.
But although we do not like them, are part of the world. A world in which gray landscapes and dry, hard and rough, but they are most abundant. In these places, life is difficult and its inhabitants must struggle every day to find water and get food. The rest of the world, however, is a green planet, full of fields and woods, with adequate resources for all and, contrary to what is said, with more possibilities than ever because the development has increased our productivity. This well-run world would be paradise. The problem is people, poor people, people with heart stained black. Those who prey on others mired in misery, to raise them a little more. I already knew before leaving but we have not stopped to see them during the trip. In fact, the less developed the country, the most abundant of these snakes.
As in Africa. Corruption ethnicity has been the bleeding sore of the black continent but in recent days we have read so many genocides, mass murders and villages exterminated to put all this on behalf of an economic crime seems a euphemism for bad taste. Darfur, Sierra Leone, Zimbwawe, Kenya and Nigeria. Black or white, are all savages. With phones and some even in suits and ties, but the savages after all. In the middle of last century, when most processes began of independence, Africa was a conglomeration of thousands of tribal societies where their codes of conduct were designed to preserve the existence of groups and individuals who formed it, and not in the belief that all humans are equal and, as such, we respect each other. So when members of these groups came to power had no moral problem in using all the resources public benefit or that of their own, even if it were to cost the lives of others, life for many of them had no value whatsoever.
People are individuals and individuals are selfish. Nature made us and to help us survive. Fortunately, nature also endowed us with intelligence, thanks to which we have developed an ethic that should replace the instinct. But by definition of ethics is an asset of society and not the individual, so it does not always reach the world while our primitive instinct, genetic selfishness of people, yes it does. Thus, only when social ethics is so widespread that it is capable of overriding the individual instinct, we can speak of a civilized world. In such cases, even with corrupt individuals, the existence of an ethics accepted and shared by most causes peer pressure and fear of criminal punishment and social atenace to many of them. People in less developed cultures would be a real monster in our society are morally bound.
but not all, not always. When that pressure is relaxed if only a little, those demons do not hesitate to wipe out everything they can. So to actually kill them, the collective pressure should grow further and based not only on the complaint of public opinion but also that each of us can exercise individually. That is, we should all feel responsible for those attitudes of others that do not meet the standards we have agreed between us, pointing the finger when that happens and making them withdraw empty, not only words but also our respect.
Who has never thought that the behavior of a neighbor, a co-worker or boss himself was not right? However, shame, fear, or simple neglect reported rarely have to face, although we have not hesitated to criticize in the privacy of and behind our own. However, it would be wrong to forget that those who today can make small moral failures in our society are the same as in other times and places, by their very lack of principle, had behaved like monsters or let other so. Or are we so naive to think that in Africa all these crimes occur because people are worse than us? Does anyone still believe that Yugoslavia was an exception in Europe and that something could not happen again? Blaming one and cheer to others simply because they live in different places would be unfair. But if they publicly accuse everyone, here and there, those characters with black heart which are ruining our planet green, eventually merging with shame and have to hide their sins in the shadow of his guilty conscience. The best of the prisons for those who should never have been born. So
depends on us having a better world. No one else.
