Watercolor - Bust of Leopoldo Cano
Leopoldo Cano Valladolid was a playwright, well known in his day (late XIX). Is barely remembered today, if not because his name appears in streets, schools and colleges of Valladolid. And, frankly, reading the letters of the late XIX requires a) lots of free time and b) some effort, because paragraphs are too dense to current styles, full of descriptions and lack of dialogue. And of course, in the era of internet and fast-fast and the visual image, since it fits us very much.
Leopoldo Cano was a character worthy of mention: he was military head of the General War School, Major General, excellent mathematical research analyst politician and writer.
was sent to Puerto Rico on a special mission to analyze the political situation in the Caribbean, in addition to the theater (his best known works are "The Passion" and "Maya") also tried his hand as a poet.
The bust is located in Campo Grande (Valladolid's main park, located where the reign of Philip II were executed by the Inquisition condemned - well short of what the Black Legend would have us believe), is the work Juan Jose Moreno Llebre, and is a marvel. It is located on one side of the central promenade, in a small parterre that blanket. Watercolor on Canson A4
